Through the 1950s John Grimston progressed to manufacturing the concrete garages the company is so well known for.

The 1960s were the hay day of the concrete garages; at its peak Grimston garages of Queensbury were producing 100 garages a week. John became very wealthy and successful. Unfortunately he died in 1971 after an accident on his boat, he left a wife and young family.

The company still with the famous Grimston name changed hands and was eventually taken over by a larger national company Nucrete (of Pudsey nor Leeds) in 1980.
